It’s that time of the year when you’ll look in your Halloween candy basket and see Candy Corn, one of the most despised candies to receive on Halloween night. Instead, you hope to find a prize, like a Reese's Cup. One can only hope that next year will have a better turnout. Almost 60% of Americans go trick or treating each year, and to make sure that you don’t get the dreaded Candy Corn (or whatever candy you despise), here are the most liked candy of the students here at WHS (*according to The Lantern staff).
Reese’s
It’s no little-known fact that Reese's is one of the most beloved candies. The nice sugary Chocolate coating on top of the smooth peanut butter makes it an awesome candy.
Sour patch kids
Sour Patch Kids may genuinely be the most popular Gummy candy ever. If you were asked what sour candies you could list as your favorites there is a good chance that Sour Patch Kids is close to the top if not the top of your list. Sour Patch Kids are simply unbeatable when it comes to popularity.
Skittles
Skittles are a delicious, chewy, and sugary candy that is given out on Halloween most of the time. The small delicacies have varieties of different colors and flavors that every kid wants to see in their basket. The rainbow of flavors that overwhelm your taste buds with the satisfaction of eating it pair well together. If you want a sweet treat then you have to pick Skittles.
KitKat
KitKats are iconic for their crunchy wafer wrapped in delicious chocolate. They deliver a sweet and satisfying snap once you bite into them, and the only right way to eat them is by splitting them apart. Share a bar, and make Halloween twice as fun with this candy!
Twix
Twix is a savory and sweet candy that children absolutely adore. The crunchy biscuit with the sweet caramel just melts in your mouth. The different flavors are amazing with the Milk Chocolate coating the outside. It’s a delightful treat that is just perfect on Halloween night, one of the best candies to hand out for this spooky holiday.
Snickers
Snickers is the Halloween candy that satisfies all the buds on your tongue with its crunchy peanut butter blend, chewy caramel, and smooth nougat, topped off with a coat of rich milk chocolate. When you’re hungry or looking for a great Halloween candy, watch out for Snickers!
Hershey (Cookies & Cream)
Hershey's Chocolate is a classic candy not just for Halloween, many people love it and it could even be considered “the best Chocolate bar in the world”. The smooth white Chocolate with just the right amount of cookie crumbs in each bite has never failed to disappoint. Not a surprise that it would be ranked so high in the list!
Starburst (Pink)
Do you know what's better than Starbursts? The pink ones! What's the best way to end your night after going trick or treating by eating the best Starburst flavor? Opening one of those Starburst packets just to see you got your favorite flavor is sure to bring a smile to your face.
Airheads
Airheads are like winning the Halloween candy lottery, you never know what you're gonna get. All the flavors there are to choose from and even a mystery one if you're lucky. They are always a delight to have in your Halloween basket and a fun surprise to have for a treat.
Butterfinger
Don’t be fooled kids, they don't actually taste like butter but instead taste a good crisp peanut butter base with a chocolate coating. The yummy finger-licking good bar is sure to attract everyone. Their captivating fun packaging draws attention to itself making it fall into the top ten best Halloween candies.
Honorable Mention: Chocolate (of any kind)
If you could name one candy off the top of your head it would probably be a kind of Chocolate. On the survey, Chocolate candy was listed just about every single time as one of the top candies. In other words, this sugary beast is still at the top of everyone's Halloween checklist.
