POEM: The End of Summer

Updated: Dec 2, 2019

by ASHLYN BENNER

I wandered over grassy hills

Searching for some last minute thrills.

Before summer came to an end

I traveled to the riverbend

Where water trickled o’er my feet

And I knew summer was complete.

I dreamed there would be school no more;

Then teachers opened up their doors.

As we learned about art and math

I went back to my summer path.

One hundred eighty days to go

‘Til I’m back to the hills I know.
