Empty; Alive

by CHRISTIAN SHERRICK - September 27, 2020

With empty streets and silent stores

The birds all strum their somber chords

The world confronts a quiet war

While We come to a stagnant stop

With empty stores and silent streets

The birds all sing their festive theme

The world remembers Nature’s dream

While We come to a stagnant stop

The teaming streams and lavish trees

The deep-blue sky and reborn seas

Remind the world of what could be

When We come to a stagnant stop

The War is done and We are free

To send back Nature to its keep

Behind the tires, smog, and grease

When We escape our stagnant stop
